LockPickShop - a History

We started as internet-only book sellers in 1998 specializing in how-to books and videos (Yes, VIDEOS! DVD's hadn't even been invented yet) for many different trades and hobbies. Our books on basic locksmithing, locksmith training courses, & how to pick locks sold like crazy. A year into this thing we decided to ditch the rest of the books we were selling and concentrate on expanding the business to include quality locksmith and lock picking tools. Throughout the year we'd received a LOT of emails and phone calls from the locksmith and law enforcement communities urging us to sell the actual tools of the trade. We thought, why not give it a shot? There was certainly a lot of demand for locksmith and lock picking tools. It seemed like a good fit.

At the time, there weren't many reputable companies on the web providing these tools. It took us a while but we eventually found the manufacturers of the best USA made lock picks and locksmith tools available. It's very important to us to keep jobs in the US, to support US companies that use US steel and materials. To this day 99% of our entire line of tools is made by US manufacturers of US high quality steel. We launched our first (really ugly) website in early 2000. Now, over a 23 years later Lockpickshop.com is one of a few original providers of locksmith and lock picking tools that is still in business and thriving. Unfortunately there are several unscrupulous operators on the Internet that try to ride our coattails and misrepresent themselves as Lockpickshop. Our business (as noted above) is based in the USA. We've established a loyal customer base and a strong reputation for service which continues to grow right along with us!
