Once you have your bump key, you need to hit the back of the key with something that applies the proper amount of power. It has to be light enough so it won't do any damage to the bump key or the lock. This is what bump hammers aka "Tomahawk" are used for. Bump hammers are made of plastic and have the proper density and right amount of flex in the handle to create sufficient energy to bounce the lock pins while allowing control by the operator.
